My business motivation is my 99-year-old mother, who is aging in place at her own home. Her legs are immobile, but she can transfer to an electric wheelchair. Her house has been adapted so she can cook a meal at her kitchen table, toilet herself with adaptive devices installed in the bathroom, wash her clothes, and do crossword puzzles to keep her mind sharp. She has a personal care aide in the residence for two hours twice daily to help with personal care and light housekeeping. My brother, sister and I tried for two years to get her to live with one of us. Mother refused to leave her home and lives a productive life in the comfort of familiar surroundings. She is active in a national usher organization and is a church board member. This could be the story for many other seniors who want to age in the comfort of their own homes. Home care is a vital alternative to nursing homes, assisted living, and independent living facilities that displace older adults who risk losing their sense of autonomy and dignity and experiencing low satisfaction with institutionalized care.

Personal Touch Care and Service, Home Care Agency was created to assist seniors with self-management skills critical to maintaining healthy aging and independence. We focus on our clients’ overall health quality to enhance physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being that inspires dignity, personal motivation, and self-sufficiency. Our fitness and wellness promotion approach evaluates and elevates the lifestyle of seniors who want to age in place in their homes using age-appropriate factors such as diet, diminished mobility, chronic pain, frailty, loneliness, and psychological anguish to develop a life plan that fosters a renewed sense of wellness, well-being, usefulness, and personal value. For older adults 60 and above, achieving health quality has a positive effect on preserving a positive outlook on life. Personal Touch Care and Service promotes a culture of freedom, self-sufficiency, dignity, personal values, and a sense of well-being for home care clients.

Healthy aging is important to me; my vision centers around three distinct themes: person-specific care and social and spiritual connection. Personal Touch Care and Service employs a care model that optimizes a senior-fit service to achieve the goal of helping seniors realize optimal health quality.
